Corporate Walking Trails

Client: Diliweg Companies Location: Durham, NC Diliweg companies contacted us about repairs trails that were build incorrectly by a landscaping company. Due to the lack of experience, the landscaping company that attempted to install their trails routed the paths poorly and cause severe erosion of the surface materials. In addition, the trails were routed across a low lying field with significant water flow and as a result, the poor trail design created a dam that turned the field into a marsh that never dried. Our solution was to change trail alignments where possible, install timber steps where needed, and install substantial subsurface French drain systems throughout the field portion to redirect the water underground. Check out the before, during, and after photos to see the progress!...

Galloway Ridge Nature Preserve – Phase III

Galloway Ridge Nature Preserve – Phase III

Client: Galloway Ridge Location: Pittsboro, NC Progress continues at Galloway Ridge with the third phase of development on their ADA walking trails for residents. This third phase of construction features a babbling brook bisecting a small piece of property between the community garden and resident villas. Rather than simply building trail on one side of the brook, we created a plan than maximized the use and beauty of the natural features by meandering back and forth across with the use of 6 bridges over the course of 1/4 mile! Where we encountered low lying marsh land, we elevated the tread and stabilized with native stone for a picturesque experience. The result is a truly beautiful and completely unique section of trail that the residents love....

Galloway Ridge Nature Preserve & Dog Park – Phase I

Walking Trail & Dog Park Photos Client: Galloway Ridge Location: Pittsboro, NC Galloway Ridge at Fearrington Village is a quaint retirement community located in Chatham County just outside of Pittsboro, NC. They reached out to Nature Trails wanting to make use of a wooded buffer around their property and to give residents a place to walk their dogs and get exercise in the shade. Our solution was to build a 1/2 acre dog park that maintained all of the large tree canopy and add a 4ft wide Chapel Hill grit walking trail around the dog park. Later, we added another 1/2 mile extension to the trail to include two additional access locations, a natural cedar trailhead arch, and two beautiful wetland boardwalks! The residents have been so pleased that future expansions are expected soon....
